Discover your Energy Type (Dosha) and Optimize your Life

In Ayurveda (the sister science to Yoga or ancient India medicine) our bodies are described as vessels made up of the five basic elements that make up everything in nature: Space, Air, Fire, Earth, and Water.  There are three main Energy types, or Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and each person is a combination of all three, with our unique ratios being determined at the time of our conception based on the environment, diet, lifestyle, thoughts, feelings and emotions of our Mother and Father, and even that of our ancestors.

Our unique Dosha influences our physical nature, body composition, immunity levels and responses to various external stimuli, and our behavioural patterns and personality traits. The energy type we have at birth is known as our “Prakriti Dosha”, and we can think of it as our individual blueprint. The energy type we are born with remains the same throughout our lives but can, and most likely will, be influenced and knocked out of “alignment” (referred to as Vikruti or “imbalance”) by our own lifestyle, diet, the environment in which we live and a variety of other factors. Experiencing these imbalances can affect mental, physiological and behavior functioning and is often the underlying causes of many illnesses and diseases. Knowing our Prakriti Dosha reveals how to keep ourselves in balance to stay healthy and disease free.

The dosha types are based on observable mental and physical behaviors and characteristics and are associated with the functioning of our nervous system, including patterns in blood chemistry, genetic expression, metabolism and all of our physiological states. There are three fundamental substances, wind, bile, and phlegm (in Sanskrit – Vata, Pitta and Kapha) that fluctuate in the body. Those substances are affected by the seasons, the time of day, the process of digestion, and several other factors. Keeping them in a healthy balance is the major goal of Ayurveda. Here’s an earlier article I did on Ayurveda and the Doshas, where you’ll also find links to a couple of Dosha Tests. https://holisticwellnesswithcindy.com/2023/09/17/understanding-ayurveda-doshas/

I recently obtained my Soma Breath Transformational Coaching certification to begin helping others discover their own energetic state (the Dosha type) and help guide you into a healther, happier and more balanced lifestyle. This is an excellent first step to reaching your highest potential.
