ESSENTIAL OILS

IMG_2581

This page is dedicated to use of essential oils for enhanced health and wellness.   This page details “recipes” and blends I have created and/or used, with many being shared and specifically requested (on numerous occasions) by many of my friends, neighbors and clients.  These recipes and blends can by made with ANY therapeutic grade essential oils.  One of my biggest pet peeves with essential oils is about the BRAND (“whose oil is better”).   Like anything else, pick the line you like and PLEASE do your research to make sure you are getting quality therapeutic grade oils.  While I use mostly DoTerra, I am ALWAYS branching off into other lines for oils that they do not have.    Happy Blending!

DETOX TEA BLEND

This is one of my most popular blends.  Anytime I feel a cold coming on I brew a detox tea, add an EmergenC, a little honey and the following EOs: 4-5  drops On Guard, 3-4 drops Melaleuca, 1-2 drops of Oregano, 1 drop Peppermint.  I’ll admit, at first, it was a little hard to get down and I still don’t really “enjoy” it…but it does the trick.  Haven’t been sick with a head cold in a couple of years, despite being around a bunch of sickies.

BALANCE BLENDS

Balance is one of my staples.  I don’t wear perfume anymore.  It’s 9 times out of 10 Balance with usually a citrus.  This was one of my favorites, until Tangerine was no longer available 😦 Balance is great for doing just that, promoting a sense of grounding, calmness, peace and relaxation.  And the tangerine?  well that’s just bright and cheery! In lieu of Tangerine, my next favorite is Bergamont, followed by Grapefruit, and then Wild Orange.  If you feel like jumping out of the citrus box, try Ylang Ylang (one of my on-again off-again favorites) or your favorite floral.  Experiment with your own blends to find the perfect “Balance” for you.

ALLERGY BLEND

I have suffered from allergies my whole life.  This blend in my diffuser helps to alleviate the symptoms of allergies and promotes healthy sinus tissue by keeping bacterias and allergens at bay.  I also have my himalayan salt lamp on regularly, which promotse air purification.  My neti pot has also been a great addition for keeping my sinuses healthy, and even on my worst allergy days provides much needed relief! And yes, I must admit my first experience with the neti pot nearly claimed a drowning victim….took some getting used to! 5 drops Frank, 3-4 drops Lavendar, Lemon & Eucalyptus and 1-2 drops of Peppermint

HOLIDAY BLEND

During the holidays I love to diffuse this blend.  Not only does it smell amazing and like the holidays, it also promotes healthy immunity, purifies the air, promotes a sense of focus and a positive mood. 5 drops of On Guard and 4 or 5 drops of Douglas Fir.

WINTER BLEND

I’ve had a love-hate on-again off-again relationship with Ylang Ylang.  When I first experienced it, it was right up there with Balance, as a matter of fact I wore them together.  Let me just say HEAVENLY and SO grounding and relaxing. On top of that?!? Promotes relaxation and respiratory health, AND helps to balance hormones…who doesn’t need a little bit of that?  You DO know that everything you eat, apply to your skin, ingest by inhalation (yes meaning our lovely air), not to mention stress…all of these affect your hormones.  We all need a little balancing. 4-5 drops of each…again, to your liking.  Always experiment and see what your senses tell you …..and roll with it =)
