During a treatment today I had a client inform me that one of the “big” cosmetic companies has chosen to re-implement animal testing for their cosmetic and skin care lines. I was taken aback because I thought companies were moving in the direction which I continue to hope and pray we are moving, a more humane and compassionate world. I came home and researched. I was disappointed to find this statement on their website: “Unfortunately, a few countries require additional safety testing, which may include animal testing. ****, in partnership with other organizations, works to help advance government acceptance of alternative non-animal testing methods. But if a compromise cannot be reached, we must comply with the testing required by local law. Animal testing is an issue faced by all global beauty companies.”
So because of this company’s lucrative market in another country, the cruelty continues. This same company, who hosts an annual cancer walk, also continues to use ingredients in their products that may cause hormonal imbalances, and even cancer. I’m discouraged, to say the least.
There are cruelty free products available. There are products that do not contain harmful ingredients. As consumers, and if this is something that is as important to you, as it is to me, we must educate ourselves. Read your labels, and please….do your research.
The video below is a powerful demonstration of the cruelty that exits. I love Lush Cosmetics for their continued efforts in battling the inhumane treatment of our fellow creatures.
